FREE Books of the Bible Lapbook

Today I had a ton of fun making a
Books of the Bible Lapbook.

Print out all your pieces.

Assemble the accordion books.

Attach the cover to the front of the lapbook.

How it looks when you first open it up.  Bible notes on the left hand flap.  Bible vocabulary on the right hand flap.  The beginning part of the Old Testament books on the first insert.

Under the Bible notes tabs.

Just a close up of the first set of pockets.  The accordion books are folded up.

The match book vocabulary can be either written in or pasted in.

Turn the first insert page over and here are the remaining pockets etc... for the OT.  Then we have a 400 years separation note stuck to the bottom part of the page.

Turning to the middle we start the NT pockets.

And continue over for the remainder.

How it looks when both inserts are open.

On the back of the right hand insert.
A full listing of the books of the Bible.

Yes, so that's it.

It is quite a project, and I suggest doing it in small parts as a child learns the Books of the Bible by rote memory.

So, if you're interested in this lapbook feel free to download a FREE copy here.

A Bee Lapbook

This week we'll be taking it easy with 2 lapbooks
{ Bee / Electricity } - it was either do that or lose an entire week to nothingness.  So I chose the former.

At any rate I decided to put my own Bee lapbook together.
{ I bought the Electricity one }

So here's how I went:

{ A cover...  }

Vocabulary words - in matchbook formats.  This time I thought to add cut and paste vocabulary with it as well.

The compare and contrast trifold on the far right flap.

Tri-fold opened up.

A reading passage on Bees. I must admit, I learnt all sorts of interesting things while researching for this project.

A junior cloze.  I did make a secondary cloze for higher leveled learners, and that is in the file as well.

Pockets........ with booklet inserts.

Label the bee.  This time I put the words into little boxes so that they could also be cut and pasted if so desired.  Additionally, I also updated/corrected the words in the box in he file.

Life cycle of the bee.
Yep, cut and paste available for this one too.  :)

Writing project.  Copywork options available as well.  Additionally, I also provided a higher grade leveled writing paper option for older students.

Drawing project:  living in the hive.

The little booklets that go into the pockets.

A view of what it looks like when you first open it up.

When I turn the passage over.

Yeah, so that's one of the lapbooks we'll be doing this week.  This particular one is for the 5 year old.  The Miss 8, 10, and 12 year olds are going to put their own together.

At any rate, if you're interested in this download I have it in my store { discounted actually } for a bargain $2.

It won't stay that way forever
though - eventually I'll have to put it up to it's real price of $4.

Click HERE to go check it out in the store.

What Miss 5 did for School Today

Here's what Charlotte did for school today, she's 5.

Not photographed: I read her a Bible story, then I read her a story from SOTW I, and lastly I read her a nature story.

{ Maths - Rod and Staff Grade 1 Book 2 }

{ Spelling }

First, sort the ck words out of the bunch that's on the worksheet, glue those under the duck flap.  Then she wrote down a heap of /ck/ words and underlined the multiple phonogram ck.

 { Language Arts }

Two different worksheets.  One was focusing on the { ea } sound and the other word families ed and en.

{ Reading }

What she read to me today.  We discovered a new sound to focus on:  { ur }   As revision she also read an earlier story again, it also helps with reading fluency by revisiting previous stories.

A Shark Lapbook

This week I was busy trying to work out how to make a lapbook.  Here's what I ended up with.

{ Sharks }

A cover page.

Vocabulary, passage, compare & contrast activity.

Compare and Contrast activity opened up.

The cloze activity to be done after reading the passage.  The pockets filled with mini books of KWL, Book Log, Shark Facts, and Flip Book - diet, predators, life cycle.

4 details writing.  Choose 4 details about sharks to write about or use the 4 details copywork cards instead.

Label the shark.  How could we do a project like this without any labeling?

The base of the lapbook, and placement of inserted pages.

The mini books for the pockets.

Inside the mini books.

I did leave a "little" room for other resources under the labeling activity that one might find on the internet, like real photos of sharks, but I did my best to fill the entire lapbook up - to make it a stand alone, save for the use of books that you'd read to learn more.

The project is designed to take about a week { 5 days } in a classroom situation.

I've popped it in my STORE for a bargain price of $3.00

Click HERE if you'd like to pop over and have a look.

Angela's Ashes

So, I finished reading 'Angelas Ashes'. Oh my, the poverty.   Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Adult themes and language.

He manages to get out of Ireland, but before that happens he has one of the most saddest, pathetic, and poverty struck life of anyone I've ever heard of.
